Cotswolds, North

The charms of the Cotswolds need little introduction as the area is world famous - and justifiably so. The landscape is a wonderful mix of long ridges with far reaching views, fields criss-crossed by drystone walls, scattered woodland and gentle valleys, trout streams, meadows filled with wild flowers, and, of course, quintessentially attractive villages, churches, and manor houses, all constructed from the local honey-coloured stone. The Cotswolds fulfils most people’s idea of a ‘typical’ English landscape.

Both the five and seven night itineraries have been designed to show the very best of the area without the need to follow a continuous route. Guests on both tours will visit the mellow villages of Broadway, Stanton, Stanway, Snowshill and the Slaughters; walk beside the charming little rivers Windrush and Eye; visit Chipping Campden - the ‘Jewel of the Cotswolds’, to enjoy one of Europe’s most complete and unspoilt Mediaeval high streets; and climb above the villages to enjoy the extensive views from Dover’s Hill and Broadway Hill.

Accommodation
Unless you ask us to customise your trip, and choose alternative accommodation, your holiday in the northern Cotswolds will be based in a comfortable family-run guest house in either the handsome and historic town of Chipping Campden or the idyllic honey-coloured Cotswold stone village of Broadway. Your room will have ensuite bathroom facilities and you will have a choice of continental or full English breakfast. Both Chipping Campden and Broadway have a wide range of restaurants, tearooms and inns.

If you prefer hotel accommodation we can arrange a room at the Noel Arms Hotel in Chipping Campden. The Noel Arms, which is one of the oldest inns in the Cotswolds and is reputed to have hosted King Charles II during the English Civil War, is situated on the high street, right beside the medieval market hall. The hotel has a range of classic, superior and four-poster rooms, many with period features, and the restaurant menu offers both traditional British dishes and dishes with an international influence, including award-winning curries. The additional cost for accommodation at the Noel Arms Hotel will depend upon the room type chosen and whether you wish to include evening meals in the hotel restaurant.
