Sunday:  Today’s walk will take us along the Weindrush Way from the tiny settlement of Aylsworth, through the verdant valleys of the Rivers Coln, Eye and Windrush, across colourful wild-flower meadows and pastures, and through the quintessential honey-coloured stone-built villages of Naunton and Upper Slaughter, to reach Lower Slaughter, with its iconic stone bridges and 19th century watermill. From Lower Slaughter we will wend our way across the gentle hillside and follow the bank of the River Windrush into the idyllic riverside village of Bourton-on-the-Water - ‘The Venice of the Cotswolds’ - where historic inns and welcoming tearooms hold out the prospect of refreshment.

The distance for the day is 8 miles (13kms)

There we will walk along historic Arlington Row with its iconic weavers cottages, and take time to enjoy some refreshment in one of the riverside tearooms, before continuing across water meadows to reach the village of Coln St Aldwyns.

Friday: Today's walk along the Cotswold Way starts in the beautiful village of Broadway, with its handsome main street lined with honey-coloured stone buildings. From the foot of the High Street we will climb up Fish Hill (where historically the local monks stored their fish to keep it fresh!)to reach the Cotswold escarpment and castellated Broadway Tower, with its far-reaching views across the surrounding countryside and into Wales. The tower was a favourite retreat of William Morris, Edward Burne-Jones and Dante Gabrielle Rosetti and houses an exhibition on the Arts and Crafts movement. We will walk along the airy Cotswold ridge and along the grassy Mile Drive to reach Dovers Hill, the site of the Cotswold Olimpicks, first held in 1612, with its sports of Shin Kicking and Dwile Flonking. From here we walk down into the town of Chipping Campden the centre of which is virtually unchanged from the 16th century.
